Bridging ambition and execution for a £100m global scale-up
The Challenge
Glas is a UK-based global loan agency business with over £100m in revenue, founded by Mia Drennan — EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2025. Having built a market-leading position in a complex and highly regulated sector, the business is now focused on its next chapter: scaling towards approximately £300m in revenue over a five-year period. That kind of growth demands more than ambition. It requires the right technology foundations, the leadership capacity to drive transformation at pace, and a clear strategy for how data and AI can accelerate the journey — without disrupting the operations that are already working.
How We Helped
Engine embedded directly into the Glas leadership team, placing a fractional CTO to provide immediate senior technology leadership alongside the existing management team. This gave the business access to experienced, strategic-level capability without the lead time or commitment of a permanent hire — critical when the pace of change requires decisions to be made now, not in six months. Alongside the leadership role, Engine is supporting the programme management and delivery of a large-scale, complex technology migration — ensuring the business can move to modern, scalable infrastructure while maintaining continuity across its global operations. In parallel, we are working with the Glas team on technology strategy and AI, identifying high-value use cases where data and AI capability can augment the internal team and drive measurable improvements in efficiency, insight, and client service.
The Outcome
Engine's involvement has given Glas the senior technology leadership, delivery capacity, and strategic clarity it needed at a pivotal moment in its growth trajectory. The business now has a technology migration programme underway with experienced delivery oversight, a clear AI strategy focused on practical, high-value applications, and a model for augmenting its internal capability with Engine expertise as the team scales. For a business moving at pace, Engine has provided the bridge between where they are today and the operating model they need to reach £300m.
